During the month of May 2009, I made an astonishing discovery concerning key sightings of the UFOs that I would like to share with readers. My professional background has been that of a graphic artist in the aerospace industry (Boeing Aircraft, American Aviation, Douglas Aircraft). I also made precise map illustrations for the State Lands Commission of the State of California. I earned a Bachelor of Independent Studies degree from Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, with my senior thesis on the ancient Greek astronomer Eratosthenes who first discovered the correct circumference of the earth.

In a recent book called ENCOUNTERS AT INDIAN HEAD: THE BETTY AND BARNEY HILL UFO ABDUCTION REVISITED, authors Karl Pflock and Peter Brookesmith described the celebrated case where Betty and Barney Hill were driving near Lincoln, New Hampshire, on September 19-20, 1961. The couple said that they saw a UFO over their car that reportedly left indentations on the trunk lid, caused a period of missing time, and involved close contacts with the UFO occupants. In a second 1968 book called SYMPOSIUM ON UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECTS: HEARINGS BEFORE THE COMMITTEE ON SCIENCE AND ASTRONAUTICS, U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, Dr. James E. McDonald described the radar-visual sightings of the UFOs over Washington, D.C., on July 19-20 and July 27, 1952. In a third 1975 book called THE ORSON PRATT JOURNALS, historian Elden J. Watson described the journals of Orson Pratt and the writings of a 14-year-old farm boy named Joseph Smith. During the early spring of 1820 near Palmyra, New York, Pratt along with Smith described how Smith reportedly saw a bright object in the clear blue sky that grew in magnitude and then descended. The object lit the surrounding tree branches with brilliant color and landed on the ground. Smith said he encountered a powerful energy source and fainted. When he came to, Smith said he saw two brilliant personages standing in the air who made clear that they were divine in nature and had appeared so as to impart advanced information concerning events to come in the future.

During my research, I examined two precise maps within a Rand McNally Atlas and a Great World Atlas. To my great surprise, I discovered that one could draw a measured line of 300 miles between the 1952 Washington, D.C. UFOs and the 1961 Betty and Barney Hill UFO close encounter at Lincoln, New Hampshire. In turn, I discovered that one could draw the same measured line of 300 miles between the 1961 Betty and Barney Hill Lincoln encounter and the 1820 Palmyra, New York, close encounter of Joseph Smith. What we have are two measured lines of the same length involving the three report sites of the Betty and Barney Hill 1961 close encounter case and the 1820 Joseph Smith close encounter case and the 1952 UFOs over Washington, D.C.
