Kevin Barry, who identified himself as a producer for the series, announced a visit to the Tri-state Area in early October to talk with witnesses who observed events related to the sighting on May 14 .

He also wants to talk to people who saw a military presence immediately after that, especially a crane helicopter or any other details.

UFO Hunters ask witnesses to contact Megan Beshalske at Motion Picture Productions, 310-829-9933, or via e-mail at mbeshalske@gmail.com.

According to the History Channel Web site, the series features a four-person team that attempts to confirm reported UFO sitings.

The crew are from the programme UFO Hunters which is shown on the History Channel in America.

The next series will feature the Red Rose county's spate of mystery sightings.

In July, Pat Regan, 51, took a picture of a freaky funnel cloud moving slowly over the skies of Scarisbrick, near Southport.

On closer inspection, Pat, of Brook Road, Ainsdale, also spotted an unidentified flying object alongside the would-be tornado.

The History Channel plans to send its team of experts Down Under to shoot an episode of the cable television series UFO Hunters.

The show contacted the Northern Territory News yesterday after we ran a series of reports on UFO sightings.

UFO Hunters follows host William J. Birnes and his team of researchers - Pat Uskert, Ted Acworth and Jeff Tomlinson - as they put reported UFO sightings to the test.

According to the show's website: "The team's access to UFO evidence is unparalleled and their expertise allows them to quickly identify bogus claims of UFOs."

Birnes is the publisher of UFO Magazine, and co-authored the bestselling book The Day After Roswell with former Pentagon official Colonel Philip Corso in 1997.

The show is filming its second season after its first series proved a huge success in the United States. Producer Johnathan Walton told the Northern Territory News the team would be coming to the Territory soon.

"We are looking at an Australian UFO episode for the next season, that's for sure," he said.

The show plans to contact Territorians who have seen or taken pictures of strange objects flying through our skies. One of its subjects will be Alan Ferguson, who photographed a disk-shaped object flying near his home in Acacia Hills last month.

Mr Ferguson said he is keen to show the UFO Hunters what he had seen.

"If I can spot (the UFOs) I will point them out to them," he said.

"They don't know what I know - I know too much."
