Told you so...but sorry we have to run for our lives now...

It's a peaceful, sunny summer day. The birds are chirping, squirrels are frolicking through the trees, and you're sitting there peacefully watching the scene with your radio going in the background. “BEEP...BEEP...BEEP.........” the all to familiar emergency alert sound suddenly bursts out of the radio's speakers. “Oh it's just another test.” you think to yourself for a moment, until you hear the announcers voice come on warning people to stay in doors, just as you look at the sky and see a fleet of large, unknown, alien looking aircraft flying eerily along as our guided missiles pelt them uselessly. The invasion has begun...

So the scene is set. The aliens have finally revealed themselves to the world, and well...they're hostile...It's something we've seen time and time again in the movies, but give little thought to. Heck, even some of us in the UFO community just sort of casually laugh at the idea. Sure some think there are hostile intentions amongst the realm of UFOs. Most commonly the followers of conspiracies or some of the many abductees out there believe there is some sinister motive to the UFO presence on our planet. As a whole however, the idea of an actual invasion is just sort of passed off as being a Hollywood stereotype, when really perhaps we should ask ourselves...“What would happen if it did happen?”

It seems to me that if the invasion scenario ever happened, it would have not only a dramatic effect on humanity as a whole, but even more so on some of us in the UFO world. Let's face it, clearly the people who have believed in the “peaceful, loving, space brethren” image would suddenly find their dreams shattered. On top of that, if those implants found in some abductees are more then just tracking devices, we might not even be able to trust fellow humans. The only positive thing that would happen for us is the part where we get to say “Told you so...but sorry we have to run for our lives now...”

Well ok, that probably wouldn't be the only positive thing...who knows some of the information that we've gathered in the course of UFO research might be useful in that situation. Maybe somebody has had communications with a friendly alien civilization that will help. Someone amongst us could even have the very knowledge needed to save the human race. It probably won't be as simple as planting a computer virus in an alien mother ship Independence Day style though...I doubt they have the same operating systems we do...

Naveed, thanks for a thought provoking post.

So, about that thought that was provoked....

If the aliens really wanted to fry our butts, then why isn't my gluteus maximus a smoking cinder already? If all of David Icke's reptilian brethren really wanted to have us FOR lunch then why aren't they already picking my transfat clogged veins from their pointy teeth?

Dude, they aren't "after us" in that way. Face it: with our yet primitive technology, we are still a much greater threat to any potential usurpers than we were ten years ago - we were even less of a threat one hundred years ago. A thousand years ago, they could have flicked our spear chuckin' intentions off of their nefarious backsides with their pinkie fingers - with nary a bead of sweat popping up on their unfurrowed brows. So, why wait until we are actually kinda sorta dangerous?

Paranoid fantasies of disastrous alien invasion are just homo sapien knee jerk reactionaries projecting our brain dead warlike mores onto other beings that we don't know from Adam. Some of us kind of get an adrenalin rush from those confabulated fears flowing through our idle daydreams. Others of us think that fear is an over-rated, over-utilized emotion which is corrosive to our mental well being and physical health.

The reason we have not been invaded is because we have not been invaded. That may seem redundant, but if they have not done it yet, what's the hangup?

My guess? Lack of desire.

Very good point Mike.

Really I wasn't trying to say that they are going to invade, but more or less trying to ask "what if" they're hostile and did invade. In all honesty, we really have no clue what these beings (reptoids, grays or whatever else there could be) are up to despite all of our research, insight, or experiences.

As for how they would invade...that's a different possibility all together since an invasion could come in many different forms, including a stealthy one which sometimes the abduction phenomenon appears to resemble. Whether or not it truly is however remains to be seen since as I said, none of us really no the true intentions of any of them. Although it is logical to assume (like you said) that since we haven't been invaded we won't be invaded. The possibility however is still there, no matter how small of one it is.

Thank you for the post!

JesuBambino! I hope not!
Some days, I think Billy Bob Gates reverse engineered Windows from something some alien intended on throwing away when he returned home! :)

Probably it is wrong of me to project human like qualities on alien beings, but I have always kind of figured that there was the good and the bad. Aside from that I have always figured that they have their own agendas, some may seem good to us and others bad, but that would be from our perspective and not theirs.

I have also always assumed that there are many different beings visiting -- from different planets, parallel universes and even time traveler from the future and so on. I assume they all have their own reasons and some may be for the good of all (which is not necessarily the good of humans on earth) and some may be for their own selfish purposes. That said, I have a feeling that nobody really cares about attaining earth for their own. I think that in their vast multi-universe, earth may be one of many similar planets and maybe none of those are any use to them.

Thanks Naveed,

Apologies for my strident tone. I do have a problem with the widespread proliferation of false fears that seem to come as part and parcel of the UFO community. Conspiracies by evil aliens are human fantasies designed to pump up our adrenalin. David Icke and his ilk are passive aggressive sociopaths, selling prepackaged consumer fears to eager customers who get some kind of "kick" out of this crap. Why, I do not understand. The only thing I can guess is that a lot of people are fear junkies. Whatever.

But I see no "good" or sensible reason for partaking in this bizarre mind enfeebling ritual. In fact, I find it annoying. Maybe that's just me.

Lesley makes a good point though. There could be any number of different aliens out there with their own individual agendas. Fact is, we just don't know. We can only speculate. I try not to do that too much. Whatever I might come up with is bound to be wrong on any number of levels. I can only go with what I can observe.

The one thing I can suppose with a pretty high degree of confidence is that we are not being invaded by alien usurpers. I suspect this because when I look out my window, there are no UFOs out there bearing down on me with death-rays blazing. I never read about this in the papers, hear it on the news or see it on the internet. From this I think I can safely surmise it is not happening.

It is kind of like what I used to often hear from women when I was in my younger days:

THEY are just not "into us" in that way.....

Hello Mike! A moment of indulgence from you, please, as to fear junkies.

I do not consider myself a fear junkie, but yet I enjoy those conspiratorial and fear laced stories (without any racism, please). That may well be because I grew up reading Stephen King. I don't really know. I do know that although I may not take most fearful tales seriously, I do enjoy hearing them.

I think it is likely a human trait -- to enjoy that which scares us. Stuff like haunted houses and roller coasters.

One thing I do know is that I can't help it. I could pretend otherwise, but that wouldn't be honest. I love the most outrageous and fearful stories! Though not in the way one might think considering this is suppose to be Ufology and truthful. I don't know how to equate the two, my love for a fictional and might be fearful reality and whatever the truth is, but honestly I don't think it matters because I do realize the difference.

I have a feeling there are many others like myself. It isn't necessarily that they are believing in or hoping for a fearful, horrible scenario, but they have an undeniable urge for it to be in there somewhere. :-)

Hey Lesley,

Your fascination with scary stuff is duly noted and understood. I am one of those unique people who does not like manipulative horror stories, slasher flicks, or stomach churning "vomitron" carnival rides. I suppose that puts me in the minority.

But talks about David Icke in the last issue of UFO Magazine and elsewhere on this blog have got me thinking hot and heavy about the toll all of this needless adrenalin pumping has on our society. Hell, even the government sells false fears in precisely the same way Icke does: in order to manipulate our minds and have us buy into their bigotries and prejudices for the purpose of perpetuating their agendas.

Remember the colored "homeland insecurity" terror alerts? They had me seeing red. It was an overt brainwash. What for? Nobody attacked us. The boogey man was not out there. If the Bushies had actually foiled any real terror plots don't you think they would have been trumpeting it to the clouds? They didn't because the terror was a sham. 9/11 was a flash in the pan. The biggest terror of all was our own government's mind manipulation. You have to do that to draw gullible people into unnecessary wars.

Anyway, sorry for making mountains out of theoretical molehills. I guess this is just one of my pet peeves. Thanks for indulging me in my little hissy fit 'terror alert' here...... !

:o)

Mike -- I totally understand where you are coming from a pretty much agree with you.

To me there is a big difference in enjoying a scary story that you know is probably fiction and the Bushies terror alerts. I never found myself intrigued or fearful due to those -- irritated and angry would be a better description. I was coming back from France during one of those and having to go through security at the Atlanta airport was one of the most horrible experiences of my life. I could not believe the way they were treating American citizens and guests. It was downright nazi-ish. There is nothing in that which fits into my love of scary stories.

Naveed,

It might be that we're kidding ourselves pondering invasions ala Independence Day and War of the Worlds.

Perhaps we've been Occupied for so long now, that we don't realize it in our post-modern society with its expectations of a scenario befitting a Hollyweird sci-fi political commentary drama.

In actuality an invasion has likely been covert with the high strangeness of abductions, implants, mind-control and hybrids ect.

Don't be naive. Through out history naive people have paid the ultimate price. While you are watching your tv, eating, sleeping, laughing, enjoying the good life doing your thing, there are those that spend their entire awake hours planning how to kill us. Make no mistake about that.

Steven Hawkins said you don't call out in the jungle. You don't yell out to the universe, HERE WE ARE! Whenever a people met a more advanced people what happened? The more advanced took over. Earth is a great place for life. It would be worth alot to someone else in need of a planet if theirs were coming to an end. We ourselves are looking for another world to expand to because we are destroying this one. If we don't find another one we are going to go extinct here. If we the human race want to survive as a species we are going to be looking for livable planets.

Every creature on earth has a predator after them so why should it be any different somewhere else?

March 4, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterBob

Why do they need to invade? If that's really aliens zooming through our skies they sure seem to be able to do whatever they want whenever they want without any fear of interference from us. They probably think we're just too laughable to bother with (and, can you blame them?). What a blow to the human ego - the aliens don't really care enough to invade earth.

March 4, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterPurrlGurrl

Bob,

So, if we are destroying our planet and in need of another one, then why would anybody else want ours, since it is ruined anyway?

Your position is not logical. You are only projecting human psychological "needs" for domination onto "others" that you know nothing about. Have fun with that.

However, I think Susan makes a better point and one which has much anecdotal evidence to back it up. Jacques Vallee points out how ancient stories of fairies and liminal beings who have ongoing relationships with humans that revolve around abduction, sex and hybridization differ from our modern UFO abductee myths only in semantics. And if we look outside Vallee's work into oral mythologies of indigenous people around the world, we find very similar stories cropping up time and again.

But this is not the same thing as an overt Hollywood invasion, ala Bob. It is something more subtle and below the radar. Good call Susan!

March 5, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterMike Good

For some reason the way Susan phrased what she said reminded me of the movie "They Live". Also her point is a lot more believable then the Hollywood style invasion I used in my post.

March 5, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterNaveed

Hey, Thanks for the compliment Mike! I agree about Vallee's work. His Confrontations and Messengers of Deception give plenty of examples of what you're referring to. Also, John Keel's Operation Trojan Horse.

Naveed, speaking of They Live, starring Roddy Piper.....he's one of my son's fav wrestlers! ;-P

Mike,

You didn't get my point of view at all and you don't know anymore than I do. It's all speculation. What I meant was, we should not be sending out signals in hopes of someone making contact with us. We already have put radio signals out for over 60 years. We can't help make the noise we do, but lets not purposely yell out and get ourselves in deep trouble. At least wait till I am dead and buried. Aliens that are probably visiting us now might not be a threat but who knows what else could be out there? It's a big place.

A hostile advanced being would not have to invade us with force. They could get rid of us biologicaly or even change our climate would do the trick. Ever see the movie, THE ARRIVAL?

My quote about not yelling out in the jungle was from Steven Hawkins. He is alot more on the ball then you and I are. I think its good advice.
